Board of Directors

Founding President, Mary Freeman

Mary Freeman

Mary Freeman is a filmmaker, author, advocate, and community-centered leader whose work is rooted in justice, education, and empowerment. As the founder of GRL Society and the creative force behind Zorba the Buddha, Mary uses storytelling to spark meaningful conversations about cannabis legalization, racial equity, and the responsibility to repair the harm caused by criminalization.

Her vision for Cream City Cannabis is grounded in a clear belief: legalization should not simply create a new industry, it should create opportunity for the Black communities most impacted by the war on cannabis.

Through advocacy, film, education, and community engagement, Mary works to build pathways toward awareness, ownership, healing and economic empowerment.
